Ordinarily I go easy on Ate Glo because contrary to what many people believe she isn’t actually too bad at her job. But once in a while, she’ll float a canard so ridiculous I just can’t let it pass – once a Pinoy politician, always a Pinoy politician, I guess.

Just great. Now pinoys can feel better about their habitual littering and utter disregard for basic cleanliness, common courtesy, and the environment.

When you’re leading a so-called “democratic nation” of starstruck ignoramuses, you once-in-a-while need to show that you’re in touch with their feelings and that you’re “one of them.”
Sadly, it’s the thing I’d have to do if I were president because, even if it’s stupid, it’s what the utak-ng-tilapia pinoys want to hear.

You’re likely right. GMA has always been kind of ham-handed when it comes to marketing, though; she could have framed that message in such a way as to address the real problems without offending the UnTs and made a stronger point to the countries she’s trying to get a handout from.

The only fault I see in PGMA is her being too defensive (what else she can do with an overly offensive opposition?).
